On October 23rd, a course titled "Health Social Sciences" was conducted by Professors #Chen-i Guan, #Bo-Yao Huang, #Shu-Sen Chang, and #Su-Wei Wong. They invited # Fletcher Chiu, the Director of Persons With HIV/ AIDS Rights Advocacy Association of Taiwan, to speak on the topic "Be the Key to HIV Response."
Director Qiu emphasized that "Key Populations" is a concept frequently encountered when discussing HIV issues. In different contexts, this term may encompass diverse groups, such as gender minorities, sex workers, drug users, and foreign migrant workers. Through this presentation, they aimed to highlight the issues related to HIV and intersecting identities and explore individuals' roles within these contexts.
The lecture covered the basics of HIV, the current quality of life of AIDS patients, their rights, interests, the state of friendly dental care for HIV patients, challenges faced by foreign infected individuals, and their resource needs. Additionally, it discussed the current status of advocacy for the decriminalization of HIV transmission.
This semester's "Health and Social Sciences" lecture series will have two more sessions. On November 6th, Professor #Wen-Yuan Lin, author of "Depicting the Care Landscape," will speak on "Imagining Policy Systems: Healthcare, Public Health, and Management in Chronic Disease Care." This lecture is open for both in-person and online participation. Interested faculty and students are invited to attend.
